Road Traffic Accidents – Car Crash Claims

The streets are becoming ever more busy, and an unfortunate consequence of this is the high number of accidents that happen on the roads.

If you are knocked down whilst crossing the street, or you are knocked off your motor bike or pedal cycle, you may well be able to claim compensation from the motor insurance company of the driver who caused the accident.

It is compulsory for all drivers to be covered by motor insurance so that if they cause an accident there is an insurance company to pay compensation to the person who suffers the accident. If the person who caused the accident is illegally driving without insurance cover then compensation can be claimed from the Motor Insurersa Bureau.

You are probably a safe and responsible car driver, however, if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, you may suffer a car accident caused by another careless driver. Sometimes, a road traffic accident is not avoidable because the other driver does something completely unexpected, such as failing to give way at the end of a side road and travelling into collision with your car.

If you suffer a road traffic accident you can claim compensation

If you suffered a car crash or road traffic accident, you may be able to claim for the following:

  • The personal injury caused by the accident
  • Any lost salary or income whilst unable to work
  • Private medical fees for the treatment for the accident injuries
  • Any nursing care and assistance needed whilst recovering from the accident injuries
  • The cost of repairing your car, or motor bike, or van, or bicycle
  • The cost of hiring a replacement vehicle whilst your vehicle is being repaired
  • Any other financial losses or out of pocket expenses caused by the accident.

If the driver who caused the accident failed to stop after the accident, or gave false name and address details, it may be possible to make a compensation claim to the Motor Insurers Bureau. The Motor Insurersa Bureau operates a compensation scheme for people who have suffered accidents caused by negligent drivers who cannot be traced following the accident.
